So you've got an interview, which is by most accounts the hardest part of the hiring process itself. By about this time you're feeling knots in your stomach wondering what the big gaming company will ask and how best to respond.

Generally speaking, there are points that every single applicant should apply regardless of the job they are seeking. Then there are some points that only apply to people going for game testing jobs. I will cover all of them.

* Research the employer. You must walk in there knowing as much as you possibly can about the person who may hire you. The more you know, the better an applicant you become. Visit their website, re-read the job requirements. Figure out how you fit the type of person they are looking for so that when they ask you things like "Why do you feel qualified for this job$%:" you can answer and show them what it is you bring to the table.

* Dress appropriately. I cannot stress this enough. No matter what the position is, you should not walk in wearing ripped jeans and a tee shirt. It is just inappropriate no matter what the pay scale is. Within this same category is your demeanor. If you look as though you were out drinking all night, then you're most likely not going to get offered the position.

* Be prepared by bringing a resume (on professional paper) as well as references in case they are asked for.

* For most game tester jobs, you will be tested. These tests can range from IQ, Aptitude, to just plain spelling tests. Regardless be prepared to spend some time running through a testing phase for any game testing position.

* While in the interview, do or say something that will implant you on the mind of the employer. Remember that there will be competition for this position whether it be 1 or 30 other applicants. Be willing to leave some sort of impression on the employer so that they will remember you. After the interview, it's always good to send a thank you card. Again, keeping you in the forefront of the employer's memory.

* Typical interview questions will be asked, so it's best to have some answers ready prior to the interview. This way you're not caught saying things like "uh..." or "let me see"...

* For game testing positions, employers will ask questions such as:

What is your favorite game :%$amp; why$%:

Have you ever found a bug in a game$%:

How do you feel about working overtime$%:

Tell me what you think game testing is.

What would you consider your strengths$%: Weaknesses$%:

Why should I pick you amongst all of the applicants for this position$%:

Bottom line is be prepared. Bring your "A" game. If you walk in with the intention of getting that game testing job you've always wanted, then you will walk out with the job. It's all about what you put out there and the harder you work to show you really want this job, the more that will come across to the employer.
